Cleaning the oven has to be one of the worst chores ever. It doesn't help that the cleaner you can buy at the store smells horrific, too. So what's a person to do who needs the oven cleaned but not with that nasty stuff? There has to be a green solution. Low and behold, there is one! Pinterest to the rescue, with a solution that works, no crazy fails!
Dawn Dish Soap- 3-4 drops
4 T of Baking Soda
5 T of Vinegar
Juice of a lime or lemon -or- your favorite essential oil for cleaning (orange or peppermint maybe?)
Instructions (rocket science degree not required):
1- Mix the ingredients together. ***Fair warning, SLOWLY mix the vinegar and baking soda, if you have ever made a volcano with kids, you can appreciate this will help decrease mess clean-up***
1.5- Add water if needed to make a thick paste
3-Pull the oven racks out and clean them in the sink
4-Place the resulting paste all over the oven, including the window, you can use a rag, scrubbing pad, even a basting brush if you want.
5-Wait. This might be the easiest or the hardest part. Close the oven door and walk away. If it can sit overnight, that is best, but give it at least 3-4 hours.
6-With a damp rag or sponge, wipe our oven out, you will have to rinse the rag or sponge several times. You could fill a bowl with warm water if you're sitting on the floor to rinse the rag, but you will probably need to change the water a few times.
7-Revel in the beauty of your now clean oven!
